About This Project

To meet the project's ambitious energy goals, maximizing airtightness was essential. This was accomplished through the use of several state-of-the-art materials, including:

Airtight, double-framed R37-rated walls

Spray foam and blown cellulose insulation applied within the walls and ceilings to establish a comprehensive thermal break

Innotech's energy-efficient, European-style Tilt + Turn Windows and Exterior Doors

The windows and doors, featuring a Walnut Wood Foil Exterior and White Interior Finish, incorporate triple glazing to minimize heat loss, a crucial feature for Calgary's cold winters. The entry utilizes a distinctive offset Double Entry Door design, incorporating a smaller operable side door for increased width. The living room features a large, four-panel Tilt + Turn Door, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

Following completion, the home achieved an EnerGuide score of 88, demonstrating a 60% reduction in energy consumption compared to typical new construction. The residence also achieved an exceptional air exchange rate of 0.5 ACH50 (air changes per hour at 50 pascals pressure), exceeding the performance of an average modern home by a factor of eight, and surpassing the PassivHaus standard by 0.1 ACH50. These elements combine to create an exceptionally energy-efficient home, ensuring year-round comfort for the owners.
