This stunning renovation, situated in a private residence in North Vancouver, British Columbia, was carefully designed to optimize energy performance.

The homeowner, a Principal and Building Envelope Consultant at JRS Engineering, collaborated with North Vancouver builder Blackfish Homes to develop a remarkably airtight and energy-efficient dwelling.

David Adair, director at Blackfish, explains, "The residence incorporates advanced technologies and premium building materials to successfully meet our energy targets. We selected Innotech products specifically for their demonstrated airtightness and watertightness. Our aim was to integrate windows and doors that would support, rather than hinder, our ambitious objectives."

The windows and doors showcase a charcoal black co-extruded acryl-protect exterior finish complemented by a white interior finish. They are further enhanced with 2″ horizontal surface grids featuring back-to-back spacer grids. To enhance the home’s open-concept design, many windows were designed to maximize wall space; notably, the living room's focal-point window measures an impressive 108″ wide x 72″ high.

Thanks in part to the incorporation of Innotech windows and doors, the residence attained an exceptional EnerGuide rating of 87, along with an extremely low air change per hour of 1.2. This achievement positions it as one of the most energy-efficient homes in both the North Shore and the Lower Mainland.

Blackfish Homes and Construction was recognized with the 2011 Georgie Award ® for Best Residential Renovation between $500,000 – $799,999 for their work on this project. Furthermore, the home was showcased in the 2011 Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA) Parade of Renovated Homes.
