About This Project
Constructed in accordance with the City of Vancouver’s guidelines via Secured Market Rental Housing Policy, Innotech provided and installed substantial assemblies of Tilt + Turn Windows, Fixed Windows, and Terrace Swing Doors for the prefabricated wall sections created by Mitsui Home Canada. Innotech windows and doors were chosen primarily for their exceptional energy efficiency (airtight construction), sound dampening qualities, and long-lasting build.
Performance Construction ensured that every element of the building's exterior worked cohesively to create a highly energy-efficient apartment complex. By collaborating with LEED® consultants via E3 Eco Group, the construction team secured LEED® Platinum certification for King Edward Villa – the highest distinction in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The windows and doors are a vital part of the super-insulated design, chosen to aid in lowering the building's overall carbon footprint. The double-glazed windows and doors, featuring LowE 366 coating, achieve a U-value of 0.26. Projections indicate that heating a 500-foot studio at King Edward Villa will only cost under $60 annually – a 75% reduction!
Kingsway Street, a major thoroughfare in Vancouver, experiences heavy traffic. Minimizing noise to ensure comfortable living spaces was a key objective when selecting the windows and doors for this project. To provide optimal sound attenuation throughout the building, various glass thicknesses, including laminated glass, were utilized depending on the location and dimensions of the windows and doors.
Durability was also a significant factor. Performance Construction carefully selected appropriate building technologies and materials to minimize the building's operating expenses over many years. Innotech's hybrid uPVC and steel windows and doors contribute significantly to lowering the building's energy consumption, offering an extended service life, and providing ease of maintenance – a crucial benefit for building owners.
