About This Project
South Skaha Place offers affordable housing for senior citizens who live independently. This 3-story building contains 26 units and is part of a provincial initiative aimed at creating over 1,600 new affordable housing options in the Okanagan region. The project received support from BC Housing, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, and the South Skaha Housing Society.
Constructed by Greyback Construction, the building features our energy-efficient Defender 76DS windows in all 26 apartments. These windows, manufactured at our facility in Langley, British Columbia, are built with double-paned glass and offer a variety of glazing choices, including thicker (6mm) glass, tempered glass, and LoĒ coatings. The specific glazing package selected enhances both thermal and acoustic performance, ensuring a comfortable living environment for residents.
To improve accessibility, the handles on all Tilt + Turn Windows were strategically placed lower on the sash – a crucial detail for residents with potential mobility challenges. The windows are designed to open using a single, easily accessible handle, which also engages multiple locking points when the window is locked.
Minimizing operating costs was a key priority for the owners of this affordable housing complex. Innotech windows deliver the necessary energy efficiency and thermal performance, ensuring resident comfort and helping to lower excessive heating and cooling costs. Furthermore, the long-term cost of maintenance is reduced due to the durability and ease of maintenance inherent in our window design.
